AMERIKANUAK Documentary

Amerikanuak is a documentary about Basques who emigrated to the US looking for work as shepherds and a better future. In the little western town of Elko, Nevada, we see how their everyday life plays out and how they relate to each other and with the greater community. Amerikanuak depicts the struggle of integrating into a different country in order to make a decent living, all while homesick for what was left behind.

An amalgamation of Basque tradition and 19th century Western iconography flicker and blend to present a patchwork of two cultures.

Visual Treatment

Style frames from the sequence “The Anacabe Family” show the visual effects applied to time related transitions.

Visual Effects

Vibrance and rhythm treatments create visual depth for the sequence “Ramon” all character introductions throughout.

Lower 3rd Design

A typographic style based on the main logo characteristics was created for locations and all additional info.
