A lot goes down in the Bonfire Labs Bullpen (a ten workstation, square office room with no windows) and we were looking to create a more exciting workspace. Covering the walls with a serene, quiet and inviting forest scene is what took place. We needed a creative solution to visually transform a 2D painting into a real 3D space, to generate the geometrical, more abstract and innovative feeling we were envisioning. The solution we came up with was to write an App in Processing that allowed us to define the scene in a layered, square, half-tone pattern that exported vector data directly into Adobe Illustrator. The App allowed us flexibility to manipulate the size and the distance between the squares (within multiple layers) to create a depth of field and the illusion of being submerged in our own digital forest. BFL - Mural Art, Concept and Design
We chose Jonathan Keeton's "Cataract Creek” painting as the basis of this design.
Here we can appreciate the final prints as the result of the process.
